When applied on pants Gaiters cover legs from ankles to knees including upper parts of shoes. Suitable localization and matching of protectors is provided by the strings, which can be replaced by rubber band extended under the soles of boots (not included in the kit).
Protectors' main function is to prevent against the ingress of water or dirt (snow, mud, stones, etc.) into the shoes. They protect the lower part of trousers from dirt, damages and water.
Gaiters were used but are in good condition but one of them have about 3 cm oblong hole at the bottom part.
